Innovations in Stroke Care

A public lecture from Professor Anna Ranta who is a world-leading authority on stroke research, care and policy. Her lecture will briefly cover current stroke trends followed by an in-depth discussion on prevention and treatment strategies. This will explore the latest scientific advances and future directions including the promise and pitfalls of AI technologies.

Visions of the Divine Comedy A JOURNEY THROUGH WORDS AND IMAGES
We will cover some major passages from Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. And while delving into Dante’s poetry, we will present some fabulous illustrations and artistic interpretations of the cantos by such painters as Gustave Dore’, Salvador Dali’, William Blake, Eugene Delavroix and other famous ones.

AI Supercharge training course
Serge van Dam, who recently gave a talk to U3A Wellington on the future for Wellington, is involved with running AI courses at AI Supercharge https://www.aisupercharge.co.nz
If members use the code SUPERCHARGE, they will receive 50% off the $30 cost of the course to be held on Friday 31 October 2025.
Members need a laptop and have some general PC skills to gain the most out of the event.

‘Letters Out Loud’ will expose some of those heart-felt issues people addressed on paper in the past. Well-known personalities will read letters from the Alexander Turnbull Library Collections which reveal concerns, amongst other things . . . . .

Dear Delaware
Sign up to our pen pal program
The programme, a partnership between Wellington City Libraries (WCL) and a cluster of libraries across the state of Delaware, USA, came about through a chance email exchange.
Tess Mehonoshen, Library Specialist at WCL, was contacted by a librarian in Delaware with an unrelated query. The two developed a plan together and after working out a few logistics, launched the programme in May 2023.
It has proven to be really popular with Wellingtonians, says Tess, who has a few ideas about why that might be. Over 240 children and adults have signed up so far to take part, a number which exceeded expectations.
